ACS Scores Above National Average on SAT, Receives State Honor
ACS was named the Top School in Mississippi for the second year in the row by Scholastic, Inc. for reading the most number of minutes during the summer challenge.ACS averaged 65% or above in all subject areas on the Stanford Achievement Test, which is taken by schools across the country. This puts ACS above the national and Diocese of Jackson average. Students’ average scores were in the upper quarter or third percentile as compared to the national average. Our highest area was in thinking skills with an average of 74%.
Many ACS Students Duke TIP and John Hopkins Eligible
Of our 2nd through 8th grade students who took the SAT, twenty-nine percent (29%) qualified for the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Talent Search program, which requires students test in the top 95th percentile in the nation. Fifty-six percent (56%) of the students who qualified, scored in the top 5% in more than one testing subject. Duke has a similar program called TIP for 4th through 6th graders. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of our students qualified for the Duke TIP program. Seventy percent (70%) of the students who qualified, scored in the top 5% in more than one testing subject.
