Music
Mrs. Celsie Staggers
BA in Commercial Music with an emphasis on voice from Mississippi University for Women
Notable accomplishment: 19 Published works of Music including Best Seller "All the World is Winter"
Students in the younger grades focus on rhythm, steady beat, more complicated patterns, listen and echo (repeat) rhythms and vocal techniques. 1st through 6th graders learn to read the treble clef, play the recorder. 4th through 6th learn the more complicated facets of music like building major and minor chords. There are also a minimum of 2 major performances, one in the fall and one in the spring that spotlight a sampling of what the children have learned in class.
Mrs. Staggers also offers private lessons in Voice, beginner piano, beginner flute, and beginner saxophone. In addition to the Music Theory the students learn in class, this gives them confidence and something to be passionate about. While not everyone is the best reader, the greatest artist, or strong at math, some students truly excel at music when given one-on-one guidance. Studies show the arts (specifically music) strengthens your reading and math abilities as well; so it's a double win all the way around. Contact Celsie Staggers for private lessons availability (during school and after school) at 662-352-3339.
