welcome to Annunciation Catholic school I am principal Gerry house as a parent one of the most important decisions you make is the education of your child please enjoy is tor and Catholic School originally named St Mary's School opened its doors in 1963 in Rolling 189 Catholic and non Netflix students today we serve just over 200 students in pre-k through 8th grade just about 1/4 of those students are from Starkville Mississippi we also enrolled students from all over Northeast Mississippi and West Alabama school hours are from 7:55 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday which is a two dismissal drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. we offer Starkville bus services and after hours in Columbus in Starkville so we always get to ride the bus with each other on the belief that all children regardless of is our Creed are entitled to a quality Christian education Annunciation has probably embraced this Mission and continues to be culturally comically and spiritually diverse and Annunciation Catholic school we welcome all Faith Traditions ACS is the only private school in the gold triangle that holds dual accreditation we are credited by both the Mississippi Department of Education and advanced Ed formerly known as the southern Association of how much is in schools academic standards are on par with those of the highest performing states in the United States are well-rounded curriculum meets work National and state standards ACS student scored above National averages on all subject areas on the Stanford Achievement Test most play in the area of critical thinking like fun labs and stuff choosing to do work which stretches their abilities and learn to pursue learning for passion perspective is the teachers because they really care about their students and they want us to succeed the teachers are real you know they really care about your success later in life and they really kind of pave a path for you academically and spiritually teachers are passionate about their role in your child's life and strive to offer the highest standard of Catholic Education they truly provide a formation that will guide shape students for the rest of their lives and holds a Mississippi teaching license in their field of instruction and participates in play professional development at the local state and Diocesan level classes that they offer theater library and Pee Dee Orthopaedic special courses taught at Annunciation Catholic School include physical Edge Haitian art Music Theatre computer technology Spanish and Library my favorite part of annunciation is going to music as you get to sing songs does the Wii have a lot of books I like to read a lot the library currently has over 11,000 titles in our collection we have also led the state and reading minutes in the Scholastic summer reading challenge for several consecutive years Spanish is a lot of fun I plan to do Spanish next year in high school so I kind of like me having a head start on this and it'll help a lot future I believe Spanish is taught to all students Pre-K to 8th grade weekly and three classroom integration in religion student Pre-K to first grade learn General Christian teachings like God is good and love our neighbors as ourselves students in second grade through eighth grades are reduce to the Catholic Doctrine children of other Faith Traditions are invited to share their beliefs and and something wrong one and a class and participate in Mass on Thursday mornings at 8:30 a.m. to pray to God and just and have some quiet time my favorite part about this is the homily and the gospel because we can learn my favorite part of mass is singing songs cuz flower fun for everyone to come together and Sing About God weekly math is the parents and the community that everyone's a family and we all look out for each other is just how everyone so friendly academic achievement is important we believe that strong moral character is equally important we have a school-wide petition for kindness and respect for all of our relationships both at school and outside in the community we have community service projects for all grades and a buddy program to reinforce the value and importance of giving of one's time talents and Gifts volunteers provide valuable assistance in many areas of the school program and courage to play an active role in the school's Mission each family is asked to give at least 20 hours of service to our school as part of the Cooperative education agreement at a nut Kingston Catholic School these hours can be met by parents grandparents and students we offer many volunteer opportunities at ACS somehow even be done from home student safety is a priority in our school ACS participates in fire tornado and lockdown drills regularly regularly used exterior doors
