Annunciation Catholic School Alumna Named New Principal
Annunciation Catholic School is proud to announce Casey Thomas, an alumna of ACS, has been named the school's next Principal. A familiar face on campus, Thomas once walked the halls as a student and is deeply rooted in ACS tradition.
“Annunciation Catholic School is truly part of who I am. It’s not just where I work—it’s where I grew up, where my children learn, and where my heart is. I’m honored to serve this community and am passionate about helping our students, families, and staff thrive in faith and learning,” says Thomas.
Thomas served as ACS Curriculum Director and Assistant Principal since 2021 and brings over a decade of classroom teaching experience across multiple grade levels. Thomas earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University in 2011 and completed her Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2021, also from MSU.
Thomas’ sisters and father are fellow alumni, and her three sons currently attend the school as third-generation Eagles.
She will officially step into her new role as Principal on October 1, following the departure of current administrator Joni House, who has been named Executive Director for Catholic Education for the Diocese of Jackson.
When Thomas becomes Principal, Mrs. Lauren Young has been named the new Assistant Principal of Annunciation Catholic School, effective October 1!
Mrs. Young will continue to teach in the 1st grade classroom for the remainder of the school year while stepping into her new leadership role.
A dedicated educator, Mrs. Young began her teaching career right here at Annunciation. This year marks her 10th year in the classroom, where she is beloved by students and families alike. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University (2015) and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University (2021).
Passionate about education and deeply committed to the ACS community, Mrs. Young is also a proud ACS parent—her oldest son just joined the PreK3 class this year!
"Becoming Assistant Principal at the very school where I began my career feels like coming full circle. Annunciation is where I've poured my heart into every classroom. I love this school deeply, and now as my firstborn becomes part of this family too, I could not be more excited or more proud. I am ready to step into a role as a school leader to help students and teachers reach their full potential," says Young
