Spanish

Teacher: Leslie Jones

Saludos! My name is Leslie (Sanchez) Jones and this will be my 6th year teaching at Annunciation Catholic School. I am a graduate of University of Oregon.

Spanish is my native language and I have a love for the language and cultures of Spanish speaking countries. I am ethically Mexican; my parents immigrated from the Mexican states of Puebla (father) and Zacatecas (mother). I was raised in Los Angeles where I learned to read and write in Spanish. In fact, my parents prevented my exposure to English until Kindergarten. They feared I would solely learn English and never develop a sophisticated understanding of Spanish. I was also blessed to be in a dual immersion public school until 3rd grade. My late mother-in-law, Paula Jones Lavender, taught 3rd grade at ACS for many years before her passing. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to add to the Jones legacy at the school where she loved to teach!

My goal is to broaden your child’s knowledge of the Spanish language and help them grow in their academics and Christian values. You can expect that Spanish class will be integrated with the work students are doing with their core subject teachers wherever possible. I am also an ACS parent and parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church.
