1st Grade

Teacher: Mrs. Shaine Donoho
My name is Shaine Donoho. I am happy to be back at Annunciation and to be your
child’s teacher this school year! Just a little about me—I am a member of Annunciation
Catholic Church in Columbus.  This will be my eleventh year to teach first grade at
Annunciation. My youngest son, Christian, was a member of our first eighth grade class.
My family has been a part of the school for the last 20 years. The school and
everyone here has become such an important part of our lives. It is a special place and we
are glad you are joining us. Expectations are high for first grade, but we will work
together to be sure this is a great year.

Teacher: Mrs. Lauren Young
Assistant: Mrs. Debbie Leonard

My name is Lauren Young, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year! Just a little about me—I am a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville.  I graduated from Mississippi State University in May 2016 (Hail State!). I also received my master’s degree from Arkansas State University in Educational Leadership in December 2020. My husband’s name is Jesse, and we will be married for two years this October. We have a son named Collins who will be one in January!

This school year will be my seventh year teaching. I have been teaching at Annunciation for six years, and I couldn’t have imagined a better six years of teaching. It truly is a family here, and I am so happy to be a part of it! I have taught second grade for four years, and I have taught first grade for two years. First grade expectations are much higher, but I have full confidence that we have a very smooth year ahead of us.  For those of you who are new to ACS, get ready for a great year! This school is so special, and I am so glad that you made the decision to be a part of our school family.

Debbie Leonard will be our first grade assistant this year. She has been the first grade assistant for seven years. Before being the first grade assistant, she taught second grade here. She has been a part of the Annunciation family for 24 years!! She has two grandsons that attend ACS in fifth and seventh grade. We are both excited for a fun year!
